Memos product film: Made from the outside in.
Memos is an open-source note-taking app you host yourself. You write a line, tag it and find it again later. This time we did not open the app's code at all. We worked only from what any client could send us: the public website, the public demo and screenshots of both. Then we rebuilt the interface in our own motion code.

f.0420 / the idea
The idea.
A thought arrives, you catch it in one line, and the app keeps it. The film follows one note from the empty input field to a tagged memo you can find again. The screens are a faithful rebuild of the real interface, drawn from its public screenshots.
Sound
- A laid-back track sits low under the voice. It is a quiet app, so the film does not shout.
- Every action has its own small sound: key taps while typing, a click on Save, a soft pop when the tag turns into a pill, a tick when a to-do is done.
- Music is a licensed hip-hop track.
Formats
16:9 and 9:16 from one project. In the vertical cut the app switches to its narrow layout without the sidebar, the headlines sit above it, and the calendar lifts out on its own.

The film.
All notes, links and names in the film are made up.
- 0:00 to 0:03
- A thought hits. Stray thoughts drift across the screen. Then the input field appears and a note is typed: "Podcast idea: tiny museums of Europe".
- 0:03 to 0:07
- The quiet place. The camera pulls back to the whole app. Save is clicked, the note drops into the timeline, and an idea, a link and a to-do list light up in turn. One task gets ticked off.
- 0:07 to 0:08
- Tag it. A close-up on the new note. A hashtag is typed and turns into a tag, and the tag appears in the sidebar.
- 0:08 to 0:09
- Find it. A search for "museum" folds the timeline down to the one note, with the match highlighted.
- 0:09 to 0:10
- Let it grow. The month calendar lifts out of the app and its days fill in one by one.
- 0:10 to 0:13
- Private, fast, and yours. Three cards land: the Private setting, a note saved just now, and an address on your own domain.
- 0:13 to 0:18
- The end title. "Memos", then "Write it down." is typed into a fresh input field and saved, then the OVERSHOOT credit.
